Taiwan Millions Tournament’s 16th season is in for a killer week ahead with its biggest ever Main Event on the edge of setting the floor ablaze this tail end of July. From its humble roots back in 2017, the tour’s highly popular Main Event games have grown a thousand fold, hitting an astronomically high 3,891 entry field just earlier this year. The chart topping turnout generated a NTD 25.3 Million (~USD 805,900) prize pool and saw Taiwan’s Cheng Jyun Yang walk away NTD 3,780,600 (~USD 120,500) richer following his victory.
Running through July 29th, the Main Event is geared to play through its first set of flights with Day 1A and Day 1B scheduled to hit the felt this Sunday. Action continues three days later with the next six heats setting off until the 27th. Each entry buys runners a starting stack of 25,000 to course through 30 minute blind levels (Turbo: 20 min) and secure a spot into the Day 2 festivities. TMT’s newest champion will be crowned by the festival’s concluding day, taking with him a six figure USD score along with the exclusive Calocedrus Formosana wooden Main Event trophy, endemic to Taiwan.
Interestingly, this season’s games sees a slightly higher price tag yet remains to be affordable for a majority of players, with a six figure payday on the horizon. A larger field also seems likely with this year being a first for the tour to offer overseas qualifiers. A number of Day 1’s have so far wrapped up across various locations – Hong Kong, Japan, and the Philippines, allowing those who have advanced through to show up straight to Day 2, July 28th.

In lieu of the lucky year ahead, tournament runners can test the waters and hunt down the lion’s share of the NTD 2,000,000 (~USD 60,980) guaranteed prize pool for a buy-in of NTD 15,000 (~USD 450). Only two flights complete the schedule with the games wrapping up on Day 2, July 24th.
