
With the awards table now empty, the WPT Cambodia Passport To The World Championship has come to a close. In partnership with Connaissance Management Limited, the twelve-day festival was held from July 12 to 23, 2024 at NagaWorld Integrated Resorts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Million Dollar Prize Pool At WPT Cambodia Passport To The WC Championship

The inaugural WPT Cambodia Passport To The World Championship festival headliner with a buy in of USD 1,300, drew a combined 913 entries for a prize pool of USD 1,040,592.Ā This was the third time theĀ World Poker Tour has generated seven figures in Cambodia and the richest in the country for a buy in in the $1K range. China’s Sha Cheng Chun secured the victory and emerged the festival’s biggest earner for a payout of USD 175,542.

Rui Bouquet Wins 3K High Roller for Third Title

Portuguese poker coach Rui Bouquet was hailed king of the high roller events with three incredible takedowns. He first won the 3K Single Day High Roller, then the HR Hyper Turbo. The hat trick was completed at the featured 3K High Roller after he defeated India’s Raju Jaruplavath at heads up.
“I feel blessed, you can’t achieve this without getting lucky sometimes. I was really focused on the three final tables I made. In this one, I wasn’t happy with my seat draw with two strong players to my left but I got lucky to win two flips and become the chip leader at heads up.”
The two-day event attracted 75 entries for a prize pool of USD 202,600. Day 1 wrapped up with Ngo Kho Anh falling on the bubble. Within the first few minutes of Day 2 the final table was formed after short stacksĀ Amit Kaushik (11th) and Hogyun Kang (10th) were eliminated.

Leading in the final 9 players was India’s Raju Jaruplavath who went on to reach heads up. On the opposite end was Viet Nam’s Huu Dung Nguyen who impressively spun up his 7 bb stack to 4th place. At three-handed, Bouquet and Matthew Wakeman banged heads in back-to-back flips, Bouquet won both to face Jaruplavath for the title.

Bouquet dominated the heads up action with a majority of the pots won post-flop. First big pot had blinds at 25K-50K with average at 70 bb. Bouquet min-raised, was called, then continued for 80K on the flop

Following that pot, Bouquet continued to grind down Jaruplavath to 23 bb while he sat on 97 bb. With blinds up 30K-60K, the final handĀ began with a limped pot and the players checked to the turn board

WPT Australia In September

Following the Taiwan stop, in September, the brand returns to the land Down Under for the third consecutive Main Tour in the country. Last year, WPT AustraliaĀ generated over A$12.5 Million (~USD 8 Million) across 16 events. In partnership with host venueĀ The Star Gold Coast, this yearās festival aims to surpass that figure with an expanded schedule of 23 events running fromĀ September 12 to 25, 2024.Ā Buy ins range from A$575 to A$20,000
The main highlight is the A$8,000 WPT Australia Championship EventĀ which will see the winnerās name etched on theĀ Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup. In addition, the champion will receive a non-transferable seat to the WPT World Championship worth $10,400. WPT value adds accommodations. The event takes place fromĀ September 20 to 25, 2024.
WPT Cambodia Championship Announced!

Additionally, WPT Live Events Specialist Danny McDonagh announced 2025 WPT Cambodia Championship from February 6 to 24 at NagaWorld. It will cover three weekends and is expected to be the biggest WPT festival in Asia history with buy ins up to USD 20,000. More information to be released soon.
