APPT Manila – Day 4 Highlights
APPT Open – Final 9 Players
The APPT Open resumed with 64 players out of the 326 entry field returning and all eyes on the PHP 20,000,000 (~USD 342,2800) prize pool. With the money starting at 47th place, it was action-packed from the start with short stacks shoving around the room. One of the first to bust was big stacked Joseph Magnotti whose was cracked by Benhur Ybarsabal’s straight flush .
At the two and a half hour mark, it was bubble time, which lasted all of one hand. Maxwell Rosete delivered a double knockout on a three-way cooler to deny Ronald Haverkamp a payout while Hyunyeong Kang became the first to cash.
With the money intact, it was a race for a Final 9 berth. Philippines’ top player Marc Rivera exited in 30th place, Hernan Villa finished 15th, and hatchet man Rosete just missed it in 11th place, falling on a failed bluff that first sent Edgar Asehan tanking before making the hard call.
Day 2 ended with short stacked Yiu Yeung Leung in 10th place. On the opposite end was Anastasios Pavlou who bagged up the chip lead of worth 99 bb. Pavlou earned nearly half of that stack when Mike Takayama shoved pocket Tens into his pocket Aces for a huge double up.
