The World Series of Poker announced this year’s nominees for the Poker Hall of Fame, and only one person will follow last year’s inductee Patrik Antonius into the Poker Hall of Fame in a few weeks.
The current 35 living members of the Poker Hall of Fame will have another tough decision to make when assigning their 10 points between those of this year’s class, which include new nominees Nick Schulman, Scott Seiver, and Phil Galfond, and all the others.
Those players all turned 40 within the year, which is the minimum age players must be in order to earn a nomination.
Jeremy Ausmus, who was nominated in 2023, also made the shortlist. Barny Boatman, Bill Smith, and Josh Aria, who all made the shortlist in 2024, missed this year.
Isai Scheinberg, Matt Savage, Kathy Liebert, Ted Forrest, Mike Matusow, and “Miami” John Cernuto, who passed away in February, are the six other nominees.
The newest member of the Poker Hall of Fame will be announced at the start of the WSOP Event #92: $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty event July 11. A ceremony will take place during the Main Event where the inductee is introduced by Senior Vice President of Poker Operations and World Series of Poker Jack Effel and their picture is added to wall at the Horseshoe Las Vegas.
