Who Is Jason Koon’s Wife? Meet Bianca Koon

Jason Koon’s wife is Bianca Koon, born Bianca Armstrong, a former college track athlete he met at West Virginia Wesleyan College in August 2007. They married on 26 October 2019 at the Redwood Cathedral in Big Sur, California. The couple live in Vancouver with their three sons.

Koon describes his career as a business he and Bianca run together, every swing tracked, every expense budgeted. That discipline sits behind $77 million in live earnings and a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction, both covered in our guide to Jason Koon’s net worth and Triton record.

Bianca has no public career and no social media, so there is less to say about her than about most poker wives. What follows comes from Koon’s own interviews and the public record, and where there is a gap we say so.

Bianca Armstrong ran track at the same Buckhannon college, which is where she and Koon crossed paths as teammates. That is about all the public record has on her. No job title, no interviews, nothing under her own name online.

She does appear beside her husband in our list of poker’s best-known power couples, and in the occasional bracelet photo, but she lets Koon do the talking. Every detail below about her role in his career is in his words, not hers.

What is not public: Bianca’s profession, the names of the three boys, and the birth date of the youngest. Koon has never shared them and neither do we. Anything you read elsewhere that fills those gaps is a guess.

How Jason & Bianca Koon Met

Koon arrived at West Virginia Wesleyan as a distance runner, and an injury ended that before it started. A roommate taught him Texas hold’em, and by 2006 he was playing online around his finance degree. Bianca joined the track team the following year, and the two met.

Poker took over quickly. Koon left an insurance job within months of graduating, survived a four-month losing stretch that nearly sent him back to work, and had online winnings past $2.4 million by 2011. Bianca was there for the lean years before the first seven-figure score.

The two were together for years before Koon proposed. Reports from the time put the engagement in October 2018, with the wedding following twelve months later.

The Big Sur Wedding

The ceremony took place at the Redwood Cathedral, an outdoor grove of redwoods at the Ventana Big Sur resort on the California coast. No casino ballroom and no chandeliers, just a grove of redwoods, which is about as far from Koon’s working life as it gets.

Coverage at the time gave the basics of the day.

  • Date: Saturday 26 October 2019.
  • Venue: Redwood Cathedral, Ventana Big Sur, California.
  • Poker guests: Isaac Haxton, Phil Galfond and Andrew Robl, all long-time friends from the high-roller circuit.

The date is a handy marker for his career, too. Within two years of the wedding he had won his first WSOP bracelet, and within seven he had poker’s highest honour.

Why Koon Says Bianca Made Poker His Business

Koon has been asked more than once what changed when he settled down, and he never says comfort. In a May 2025 interview he said that before Bianca he could not keep “flinging money around”, and that poker had since become something else entirely.

“A business that my wife and I have become very efficient at running.” – Jason Koon

The mechanics are what you would expect from a man with a finance degree and an MBA.

  • Data: large data sets track every swing, so a downswing shows up as a number on a chart, not something to stew over.
  • Budget: every expense is planned, from buy-ins to flights, and nothing is decided on a mood.
  • Goal: Koon has said very few poker players reach generational wealth, and the ones who do get there through discipline.

The other change is temperament. Koon has never been shy at the table, as the day he called Dan Smith obnoxious for berating players showed, but he now credits his wife as the biggest influence on his emotional control.

Three Sons & a Home in Vancouver

The Koons have three boys. The first arrived in 2021, the second in June 2023 and the third in 2026, which Koon confirmed in an October interview without giving a date.

The 2023 birth is the one poker fans remember. Koon was in Las Vegas for the WSOP and had just recorded a podcast about the $250,000 Super High Roller he was about to play. Bianca went into labour the next day, and he withdrew from the event.

  • Home base: Vancouver, Canada, with Koon’s roots still in Weston, West Virginia.
  • The rule: Koon has described a non-negotiable rule about time away from his wife and sons, and his schedule bends to it.
  • The trade-off: fewer events per year, picked for what they are worth, not for leaderboard points.

Koon grew up poor in West Virginia and has said that giving his sons the childhood he did not have is the point of the money. That framing explains most of his decisions since 2023, including the events he skips.

Family First: Hall of Fame & Scaling Back

On 3 August 2026, Koon was announced as the sole 2026 Poker Hall of Fame inductee live on the WSOP Main Event final table broadcast. He had turned 40 the previous August and went in on his first ballot.

The record he is choosing not to chase is the one that made him famous. Koon won his record 12th Triton title in Montenegro to go five clear of anyone else, and he has said he will not grind the full Triton calendar just to stay ahead on the leaderboard.

Still doing Cut back
Team PokerStars Pro, signed November 2024 Grinding the full Triton calendar
Triton ambassador, a role held since 2019 Playing volume to protect leaderboard records
Events that have to matter, in his words Long stretches away from home

With a third son born in 2026, Koon has said his schedule now has to fit around the family, not the other way round. Expect fewer stops in 2027, and expect the ones he does play to be picked at the kitchen table.

For another poker marriage built around the game, Daniel Negreanu’s wife Amanda Leatherman came to it from the broadcast side. For more on the people behind the biggest names in the game, follow the latest poker news from VIP-Grinders.
