The inaugural Chase Cup taking place at Poker8 Cebu in Mandaue City, Philippines kicks off today with its fifth and final starting day. With the event attracting 291 over the past four days, only 14 more are needed to breach the ₱5 Million (~USD 86,900) guaratntee which is expected to happen within minutes of the first level.
Cards start flying at 1pm local time. Registration closes at the start of Level 9 at around 7pm. Bagging time is at ITM of 12.5% of the field.
The Chase Cup is the first poker event in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines in over a decade. To spice it up, the eventual champion will receive a Rolex Submariner along with a substantial cash prize.

Abel Pelayo tops largest Day 1
The Chase Cup started with a slow engine then picked up tremendously at Day 1D making it the largest flight to date. A large contingent of locals from Metro Manila filled the room along with a scatter of regional and international players. Among the arrivals were Vamerdino Magsakay, Florencio Campomanes, Moses Saquing, Rchard Marquez, Emman Segismundo, Alexis Lim, however all fell including Kai Paulsen on the bubble.
Locking up Day 2 / ITM round spots were notables Mike Takayama, Edilberto Gopez Jr. Joven Huerto, Jeorge Lagatuz, and Jonald Garcia. Closing out the day with the largest stack was Abel Pelayo with 529,000 in chips putting him right under top ranked Day 1A leader Joshua Figuerres in the Day 2 leaderboard.
