WPT Vietnam Passport to the World Championship canceled

In just a short day’s notice, Crown Poker Club announced the cancellation of the anticipated WPT Vietnam Passport to the World Championship due to technical reasons as stated by the organizer.  The series geared to award ten packages to the 3rd annual festivities in Las Vegas, was set to run from May 14-27, 2024, offering over VN₫ 50 Billion (~USD 2 Million) in guarantees.

Crown Poker Club regrets this inconvenience. This is truly a difficult decision because, throughout its operation, Crown Poker Club has always prioritized safety and improving tournament quality first. Therefore, Crown Poker Club hopes for the sharing and sympathy of our partners, customers, and all players.”

As such, early bird ticket buyers are requested to contact Crown Poker Club’s customer service for refund purposes and other related concerns. The capital of Vietnam has been a hotbed for international poker festivals with its recent history backed by several successful offerings. Last October’s WPT Vietnam Passport series for one, wrapped up with over VN₫ 74.8 Billion (~USD 3M) paid out across the ten-day lineup.

The abrupt news comes as a surprise to many with the cancellation being the second festival in Hanoi, Vietnam to suddenly fall out of the calendar. Asian Poker Festival’s Hanoi Spring Series was canceled only a month ago due to licensing reasons and technical issues brought about by its partnership termination with Top Joy Poker Tour.

Up next on Hanoi’s schedule is the sought after U Series of Poker

Despite the news, players can look forward to the sought after U Series of Poker, which is scheduled to run from May 29th through June 10th at Crown Poker Club, boasting VN₫ 60 Billion (~USD 2.36 Million) in prizes to be awarded. A total of 65 trophy events are showcased throughout the 13-day lineup with the festival serving as the first international event of the year to run in the city.
