2024 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship Day 3 – Josh Reichard Extends Lead

Josh Reichard has a gigantic chip lead after Day 3 of the 2024 World Poker Tour (WPT) Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship, as just 16 players remain. On Tuesday, the tournament will play down to the six-handed televised final table.

Going into Day 4, despite Reichard’s lead, it looks like it could be a two-man race for the title between him and Alex Queen, who has 14.250 million chips. The chip counts are so spread out at the top of the leaderboard that there is about the same gap between Reichard and Queen as there is between Queen and the third place player, Wasim Assaf. From Assaf on down, the spread is much tighter.

It was quite the climb for Reichard, who was the only player to start Day 3 with over 3 million chips. Not too far into the day, he found himself down to about a million, not remotely close to the lead. But after the first break, he made his climb. By the dinner break, with three tables remaining, Reichard had already gotten up over the 11 million-chip mark and was the chip leader.

His biggest push from there to where he is now happened at the end of the day. First, he and Danny Panagatos got it all-in, Reichard with Tens and Panagatos with Sevens. Reichard’s hand held and Panagatos was out in 18th place, while Reichard grew his stack to 16 million.

Then, he raised pre-flop to 200,000 and was called by Chad Trentacosta. On the flop of Qs-Js-3c, Trentacosta bet 250,000 and Reichard raised to 625,000. Trentacosta called to bring on the turn of Kc. Trentacosta bet 1.600 million and Reichard called. The 4s landed on the river, so the board now showed flush and straight possibilities. Trentacosta moved all-in for 2.400 million and Reichard called.

Trentacosta turned a straight, holding 9d-Td, but Reichard, with Ks-8s, rivered a flush. That ended the day with 16 players remaining and put Reichard to where he is to start Day 4.
