Antonio Sapio Discusses the Return of Live PartyPoker Events

To learn more about the 2025 partypoker Tour and its return to the live poker scene, we spoke with Antonio Sapio, a seasoned poker industry veteran who has played a key role in organizing this exciting new series.

Antonio Sapio

For those unfamiliar with your work in the poker industry, can you briefly tell us about yourself and your experience running live events?

I have run events for about 20 years, the majority of which at PokerStars where I stayed for 14 years, some of them spent managing the mighty European Poker Tour. More recently I have founded VibeLive (www.vibelive.net), an experiential marketing laboratory supporting operators across poker, casino and sports betting – using events, experiences, live content, live partnerships and other types of activations.

I am also the co-founder (together with Fintan Gavin, the mind behind the Irish Poker Tour) of EDGE (www.edgegamingexpo.com), the largest poker-focused conference in the world and the first gambling conference within a gambling festival, with 20 workshops, 50 speakers, and 20 live tournaments with huge guaranteed prize pools.

It feels like a “comeback” of sorts for partypoker after having taken a hiatus from staging live events for a while. How long has this announcement been in the planning stages?

I spent two years at partypoker as Head of Event Marketing shortly after COVID. There was always a desire from (parent company) Entain to move to a sustainable business model for live events and we have now achieved it by outsourcing all operations to VibeLive. The business appetite for live events was always there, it took us some time to plan everything meticulously but we have big plans for the future, when we hope to expand the concept to other markets outside of the UK.

Naturally, partypoker is a global brand. How did you come to the decision to target the UK specifically for the 5 stops on tour in 2025?

Live poker remains strong worldwide, with a huge player base in the UK. The game’s rise through online platforms in the country has created a ready-made audience eager to participate in live action. Demand for well-structured events and exceptional player experiences remains high across the UK and Ireland. It was an easy choice for partypoker to restart events here, it’s an exciting place to play poker with countless opportunities for both players and operators.

Approximately when can players expect the full schedule of tournaments to be released for each stop?

We will publish the full schedule in the next few days, covering the first three events we have already announced. We are running compliance checks for all non-poker tournaments in the schedule (casino and sports betting tournaments) and finalizing the conference schedule, which will run on Thursday, April 24. This will include workshops on responsible gaming, game integrity, and poker coaching sessions led by professional players. We hope the festival will also serve as an educational hub, helping players to stay safe online and live.

How to Qualify Online for a partypoker Tour Seat

While we wait to learn the full tournament schedules, players can already start working their way towards satelliting in to the live events. The partypoker Tour Path satellites are currently running online at partypoker.com, where you can buy in for as little as £0.20 and work your way up towards a shot at a £500 Main Event seat plus £500 in expenses for any stop of your choice!
