The global poker scene witnessed some of the greatest moments in the history of the game in 2024. Poker was and remains one of punters’ favorite titles. With so many variants of the game and choices available to players nowadays, it is no wonder that the world is so excited to see professional players compete. The gambling scene has expanded beyond physical gambling at brick-and-mortar casinos. This means that we have seen a highly increased number of poker pros who enjoy easy access online in addition to those who delve into the immersive experience in physical casinos.
This year, many players have had breakthrough success. Some people have been famous for ages, continuing to climb the ranks in poker history as they keep playing in tournaments. Others have just recently risen to fame and, of course, there are the ones who enjoy the game and frequently play it online on trending sites. Gamblizard will tell you all about bonuses and tournaments at top online casinos. You can check their reviews to find a great tournament to showcase your poker skills.
Since we can’t possibly cover it all and tell you about every top poker player there is for 2024, we decided to narrow down the list to five of the best. Let’s jump into their stories.
5. David Coleman
Many things make a poker player a success in the industry. One of them is knowing the game’s rules. Another one is being skilled and experienced enough. The third one is proper poker bankroll management i.e. knowing when to go all in and when to back down. David Coleman has mastered them all – and has demonstrated a lot of skill throughout 2024.
Coleman won the World Poker Tour’s Trifecta event, winning $730,000. He also finished sixth in the World Series of Poker Triton main event, winning $890,000. In 2024, Coleman participated in the WPT World Championship and won an eleventh spot, as well as in the PGT Last Chance, where he finished in the 15th spot.
While he is not the best poker player of the year, Coleman is one of the best aspiring players of the season.
4. Jesse Lonis
Lonis finished second in the Card Player of the Year rankings in North America. He won three titles and had a total of 23 final table appearances. He now has total earnings of $14+ million in his career.
The prominent American poker player has been masterful in recent years. He sits fifth on the PGT leaderboard having won 1,819 PGT points from a single win.
What’s most impressive about Lonis is that he has won over $14 million in only four years since he started playing the game professionally. He might not be the biggest player in 2024, but he is one of the fastest-growing stars in the industry, no doubt.
3. Jonathan Tamayo
Jonathan Tamayo is an American poker player who won the Main Event at the World Series of Poker in 2024. He pocketed an impressive $10 million from this event alone!
Tamayo has long been successful in the poker industry. In 2009, for instance, he finished in 21st place in the WSOP Main Event. In 2008, he finished second in the Mixed Limit event.
Before 2024, he has been earning smaller sums and gradually upping his fortune. In 2024, his net worth skyrocketed. Before the Main Event, he had around $2 million in live career earnings and cashes altogether. Today, he is worth over $12 million.
2. Adrian Mateos
Aged 19, the Spanish poker player Mateos won the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. Since then, he has thrived on the poker scene. As of December 2024, he has won over $52 million in live tournaments. He is currently ranked eighth on the all-time live tournament money list and has had the highest live earnings of any poker player in 2024. In a single year, he earned over $13 million!
1. Scott Seiver
The top earner in our list of great poker players is Seiver. He has seven bracelets to his name. His 2024 hasn’t been as notable as other players on the list, but his total career earnings speak of his skill and success. He has earned over $27 million from poker to date, more than any other player on the list!
The famous New Yorker won the 2008 World Series of Poker No Limit Hold’Em event. In 2015, he became the ninth player in GPI history to be ranked in the first spot. He won his first bracelet in 2008, followed by six more until today.
On June 4, 2024, Seiver won the WSOP bracelet in Event #1, capping nearly half a million dollars. That same month, he won his sixth and his seventh bracelet in a single month.
