Nguyen’s victory came on International Women’s Day in an event that featured two women on the final table. And there are also two women’s only events later on the schedule.
It was great to see the Triton Super High Roller Series doing its part to grow the game by offering a more friendly environment to women in poker as they begin their journey.
Nguyen couldn’t have picked a better day for his success at the LES A Casino, at Shinhwa World, Jeju, South Korea. The atmosphere was palpable across all of the events as we continue to build up to the main Triton Jeju series where the big hitters will show us how it’s done.
The $3,000 QQPK Genesis saw plenty of quality, though, and it attracted an impressive 1,236 entries to the three-day event.
The Triton One debut series last September also saw Nguyen making his debut and it’s fair to say things went well when he cashed in the same $3,000 event that he’s just won.
The grinder from Vietnam couldn’t have been happier after getting the job done, saying:
“I feel very happy because it was a really long tournament, and I won the trophy. I’m so happy. This month is his birthday, so I want to give this trophy to him.”
Nguyen Huu Dung rises from a record-breaking field to win Event #1: $3K Triton ONE @QQPK_Official Genesis for $586,000.
He outlasted 1,236 entries, the largest opening event in Triton ONE history.

He was also respectful of his opponents as the event closed out, particularly towards runner-up Zhou Yinan who banked $338,000.
“It made me feel comfortable, but every player is so good, so tough, I needed to be careful and play my best game. He is very, very fantastic player. But today is my day.”
Action Recap
By the time registration closed, we had known with almost certainty for a while that the event would once again break the record for the largest Triton field in history after this same tournament pulled off the same achievement last September.
The 1,236 entries built a prize pool of $3,311,244 which would take an extra day to fight over as the organisers didn’t expect so much support.
The final table was as follows:
| Place | Player | Country | Chips | Big Blinds |
| 1 | Nguyen Huu Dung | Vietnam | 82,300,000 | 82 BBs |
| 2 | Takashi Kawauchi | Japan | 57,400,000 | 57 BBs |
| 3 | Zhou Yinan | China | 55,100,000 | 55 BBs |
| 4 | Chuang Zheng | China | 46,900,000 | 47 BBs |
| 5 | Chunnuan Xu | China | 20,300,000 | 20 BBs |
| 6 | Lu Zeping | China | 18,100,000 | 18 BBs |
| 7 | Mengdian Peng | China | 15,000,000 | 15 BBs |
| 8 | Nguyen Thi Xoa | Vietnam | 8,200,000 | 8 BBs |
| 9 | Nguyen Nang Quang | Vietnam | 5,500,000 | 6 BBs |
The organisers were compliant enough to even roll the blinds back a level to allow for more sophisticated play, but there were still four stacks with less than 20 big blinds.
Nguyen Huu Dung didn’t take long before using his stack to start the thinning of the field, Nguyen Nang Quang being the first casualty of the final table when his K
10
couldn’t beat A
10
.
China’s Lu Zeping was next to leave having made another deep impression on the crowd following an equally good performance in the inaugural Triton One event.
Nguyen Thi Xoa was almost a winner in September’s $10K Mystery Bounty event, and she must have been pleased about making another deep run, but it wasn’t to be for the long-time professional.
Having already laddered up a couple of pay jumps, her A
10
shove with six big blinds was snapped off by Chuang Zheng in the big blind with K
J
. Top pair on the flop was enough to see the field down to six players.
Mengdian Peng was the last of the short stacks hanging on, but he had a disaster with A
K
and A
K
to go out in sixth for a maiden Triton cash of $105,344.
Chunnuan Xu did the girls proud when she busted next in fifth place for $138,500. And then Chuang Zheng made it three in a row for Chinese players to bust out when he tangled with Nguyen Huu Dung in the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

Three-handed, Nguyen started to make his presence felt with the big stack, winning many pots without any resistance. That was until Zhou Yinan doubled through him with A
2
against K
Q
followed by Takashi Kawauchi getting paid with pocket kings versus A
8
.
It didn’t make any real difference, though, because Nguyen kept his lead and continued to extend it.
Kawauchi ran K
5
Nguyen’s pocket sixes and got no help to leave him collecting $237,000 for third.
The heads-up battle started with Nguyen’s 48 blinds to Zhou’s 14 and the action went exactly as expected after a short period of the pair exchanging pots. Five hours into the extra day, Nguyen Huu Dung was a Triton One champion.
