The first stop on the new circuit will be played from April 9-14 in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will have a guaranteed prize pool of €250K. The schedule of events has not yet been announced, but it is confirmed that the first edition of The Hendon Mob Championship in Latin America will be played as part of the festivities.

Roland Boothby, Head of Partnerships at GPI/The Hendon Mob, offered further insights into the strategic partnerships between SiGMA and the Hendon Mob – a recognised industry standard for ranking poker players. Commenting on his excitement to venture into new territory with the SiGMA tour, Boothby noted that, “One place we have never entered in terms of the live event realm is South America. Brazil is booming when it comes to poker, Brazilian players are known for being the most fun to play with. The market is at the start of its journey and SiGMA has unique potential to connect events and networking to the poker community.”

Interview with Ivonne Montealegre

To find out more details about the SiGMA Poker Tour, we contacted Ivonne Montealegre, the circuit’s Poker Tour Manager and widely respected for her two decades of work in the poker industry creating and running live events.

How did the idea for this new circuit come about?

The idea for the SiGMA Poker Tour (SPT) came from conversations I had with SiGMA founder, Eman Pulis. With his visionary approach, Eman felt that SiGMA’s 10-year anniversary was the perfect time to launch a world-class poker tour. Combining my experience building tournaments globally and SiGMA’s reputation for connecting the iGaming industry, we crafted a poker series that seamlessly blends top-tier poker action with premium networking opportunities.

What sets it apart from other circuits?

The SiGMA Poker Tour stands out because it’s more than just poker—it’s an experience. We integrate poker into SiGMA’s larger gaming summits, ensuring participants have access to exclusive networking events, glamorous dinners, concerts, affiliate meetups, and more. Players can enjoy not only competitive gameplay but also activities off the felt, such as MMA fights and VIP experiences. Additionally, our collaboration with the SiGMA Foundation ensures every stop leaves a meaningful impact on the local community, making it a tour with purpose.

For now, there are stages planned in Brazil and Malta for 2025. Will more stages be added?

Yes, Brazil and Malta are just the beginning. The SiGMA Poker Tour is designed to grow and align with SiGMA’s global events. As the tour evolves, we plan to expand to other exciting destinations, offering even more opportunities for players to connect and compete.

You must be busy preparing the event schedule for Brazil. Which events are a must?

The Brazil stop at Montecarlo Club in São Paulo is shaping up to be an incredible festival. With a 24/7 open bar and food for players, multiple tournaments each day, and a €0.5 million prize pool, this stop is a must-attend. Beyond the felt, players can look forward to exclusive SiGMA networking activities, ensuring an unforgettable experience both during and after the games.

Will the first event of The Hendon Mob Championship circuit be held at the Brazil stop?

Yes, the Brazil stop will host the first of two events we’ll have in 2025 as part of the The Hendon Mob Championship circuit. This is a thrilling addition to our schedule and a testament to our commitment to bringing world-class poker experiences to players. This marks a significant milestone, as I was the first person to launch a Hendon Mob Championship in Europe during the Malta Poker Festival, and now, I will bring the first-ever LATAM Championship to life in Brazil. This expansion underscores the tour’s global reach and commitment to growing the poker community.

Currently, there are two very strong poker circuits in Brazil. How does the SiGMA Poker Tour plan to differentiate itself and capture the attention of local players?

We differentiate ourselves by offering an all-encompassing experience. Beyond competitive poker, our integration with SiGMA summits provides players with access to a unique combination of high-stakes action, networking opportunities, and off-the-felt entertainment. Additionally, our partnership with the SiGMA Foundation brings a charitable aspect to the tour, ensuring we give back to the communities we visit. Players in Brazil will also enjoy unparalleled hospitality, including a 24/7 open bar, food, and access to exclusive SiGMA activities.

Will there be online satellites for the SiGMA Poker Tour?

Absolutely. We’ve made participation as accessible as possible. Players can qualify through online satellites (ed. note: to be announced shortly), mini-tournaments, and casino promotions, where top performers are awarded tournament tickets. Direct tickets will also be available for purchase starting this month.

We see that solidarity is also important to you. How do you plan to support the communities you visit?

Solidarity is at the heart of the SiGMA Poker Tour. Through the SiGMA Foundation, we ensure that each tour stop leaves a positive impact. A percentage of every buy-in from a designated side event will be donated to local projects supported by the foundation. This initiative allows us to connect the excitement of poker with the spirit of giving back, leaving a meaningful legacy in every host community.

Interview with Lukas Robinson

One of the ambassadors of the SiGMA Poker Tour is the Englishman Lukas Robinson, a renowned streamer who broke a world record by streaming 1,000 hours of poker in just 100 days. He has earned $361K online and $59K live. In 2024, he made his first WSOP final table by finishing ninth in Casino Employees Event #2. In 2023, he was one of the participants of the YouTube show “Game of Gold“.

Tell us what being an ambassador of the SiGMA Poker Tour means to you.

I am very proud to represent and work with such a huge brand in SiGMA and I am really excited that they have entered the poker space. The potential is endless!

The tour’s first stop will be in Brazil. Are you scheduled to attend and play there? What are your expectations?

Yes, I will be there in Brazil shouting Vamos and battling with all the amazing Brazilian players! I have never been to Brazil before, so I am super excited to see this beautiful country. Regarding the event, I have heard nothing but great things about poker events in Brazil, so I imagine it will be an amazing experience for everyone involved.

How is this circuit different from others?

Obviously there has never been a SiGMA poker event before, but my gut is telling me that these SiGMA poker events are going to be a lot more fun than most other poker events. I think the focus will be a lot more on socialising, having fun and creating amazing memories, over people going to these events to grind and sit there like a robot and not speak to anyone at the tables. I am not 100% sure but this is what I imagine it being like!

In which countries would you like to see the SiGMA Poker Tour played in the future?

The Brazil stop will be my first time in South America. I have never been to the continents of Africa or Oceania, so hopefully SiGMA expands the tour to have events there in the future!

What are your poker goals for 2025?

My biggest one is to win a live poker tournament. This is something I have never done! I have never won a poker trophy before, so hopefully a SiGMA poker trophy will be coming home with me from Brazil.
