Seven is an important number in the gambling world. It is featured on classic slot machines, it is a key number in the game of craps, and it’s a critical threshold in football betting. And, of course, it has long been considered a lucky number. That holds especially true in the 2025 World Series of Poker, as Brian Rast has become the third player this summer to win his seventh career WSOP gold bracelet, taking the crown in the $10,000 Razz Championship.
Benny Glaser and Nick Schulman previously won their seventh bracelets during the current WSOP and the trio is now behind just Phil Hellmuth (17), Phil Ivey (11), Johnny Chan (10), Doyle Brunson (10), Erik Seidel (9), and Johnny Moss (9) on the all-time list.
Rast, at only 43 years old, has already accomplished so much in tournament poker. Three of his bracelets came from the prestigious Poker Players Championship, he has over $28 million in lifetime earnings, and he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame two years ago.
But that doesn’t mean this is old hat. Breaking down in tears after a rollercoaster heads-up match against Andrew Yeh, Rast said he had “immense gratitude” for his milestone victory.
“I feel like no one ever deserves to win a tournament because it’s so crazy what has to happen to win,” Rast told the poker media afterward. “I was very short at least twice, if not three times. I really liked my mindset on this one. I was just telling myself, even before the final table, just focus on your play. If you bust at this point, no matter what happens, you have a great life, you’re doing well, playing good poker.”
“And that’s all I can control,” he added. “I was very happy how I played, and just these ups and downs, emotionally. That was the longest heads-up battle that I’ve ever had. Andrew made it really tough.”
Rast acknowledged that his tears may have looked odd, considering how much success he has had in the game.
“I was just so happy with this one because I thought I played really, really good the entire tournament, even heads-up. I don’t think I’ve ever cried that much after winning something, which is crazy because this is number seven.”
