March is the month that comes “in like a lion,” and that’s the role Daniel Negreanu is playing at the PokerGO Tour’s Mixed Game series now taking place in Las Vegas. He capped two deep runs with a victory in the sixth event of the series, a $15,200 buy-in Dealer’s Choice contest for $292,500.
The win gives Negreanu 10 on the PGT, putting him in a tie for the most with Stephen Chidwick. Sam Soverel is right behind the men with nine victories.
Negreanu’s tenth win on the high-stakes tour came in dominating fashion, particularly on the final day, where he began second in chips but quickly took a dominating lead with six players left with 40-percent of the chips in play during a round of 2-7 NL Single draw.
The final table was, as usual in PGT events, stacked with incredible players — two of them were going for their second wins during the Mixed game series. Ryan Miller was the first to be eliminated in seventh. Only days before, Miller won his second PGT title in Event #3, a $10,200 buy-in H.O.R.S.E contest, where Negreanu finished in ninth.
Philip Sternheimer was next to go in sixth. He would finish in fourth in the very next event.
Dylan Smith bagged his third fifth-place finish in a row to start 2025, most recently at the 2025 Lucky Hearts Poker Open $25,000 event for $103,700.
Maxx Coleman was trying to get back-to-back wins at the Mixed Game series, but stalled in fourth. He won Event #5, a $10,200 mixed games contest for $210,000. He stared the final day as chip leader, but Negreanu ran too hot for everyone.
Coleman cashed three times in the series, pushing his lifetime tourney earnings over the $5 million mark in the process.
Brazil’s Yuri Dzivielevski was going for his first PGT title, but settling for third isn’t quite bad since it came with a six-figured payday.
Negreanu began heads-up against Nick Schulman with 96-precent of the chips in play before luck seemingly shifted, as Schulman would go on to win five straight double-ups. He would come sickening close to taking the chip lead away from Negreanu during a hand of Pot Limit Omaha, but he missed his gut shot straight draw and that was all there was to it.
The tourney attracted 65 entries who generated a prize pool of $975,000. The top 10 players won at least $29,250.
