Eelis Parssinen Wins Second Title at PokerGO Pot Limit Omaha Series

Eelis Parssinen is reminding everyone why he should be in any conversation about who is the best Pot Limit Omaha player in the world at the PokerGO Tour Pot Limit series that wraps up this weekend at the Aria.

Yesterday, he won the $15,100 event less than a week after taking down the the $7,600 PLO Bounty contest ($5,000 + $100 + $2,500) for $149,000 — $131,325 for the victory, plus $32,500 in bounties.

Parssinen’s latest win added $348,600 to his haul from the PGT’s Pot Limit festival that ran at its studios on the Las Vegas Strip March 20-29. His tally before today’s final event: Two wins, and two finishes just outside the top 10 (an 11th and a 12th for an additional $35,925 for a series total of $515,850).

He just crested the $4.5 million mark in lifetime tournament winnings, with most of his cashes won playing PLO.

The victory put Parssinen’s on top of the series’ leaderboard, just 19 points in front of Samuli Sipila, who, like Parssinen, is one of the handful of incredible PLO players who also happens to be Finnish. The point’s leader of the series receives a $10,000 ticket to any PGT event.

The Finnish PLO phenomenon was the subject of an episode of “Last Call.” CardChats Daniel Smyth wrote about it in 2022.

Hot on the PGT Tour

This was Parssinen’s third victory on the PGT since October, when he won the $7,600 PLO Bounty contest ($5,000 + $100 + $2,500), meaning he defended his title this PLO series. At PGT events in October, he cashed six times, and nearly won a second title in the $10,100 Aria High Roller, but stalled in second place for $127,800.

The now 29-year-old has been playing poker since he was in high school after World Poker Tour episodes started airing in Finland. He was hooked immediately, and eventually spun online freerolls up to nosebleed levels, and while he started playing no-limit hold’em, he shifted his focus to PLO. In 2020, it all paid off in a big way when he won $440,000 in a $25,500 event online in the first Poker Masters Pot-Limit Omaha Series.

That series was, of course, dominated by Finns.
