In a literal “family pot” situation, Loni Hui raised from the button to 35,000, Phil Hui called from the small blind, and Joel Harwood folded his big blind. (Harwood is Loni’s father, so all of the chips in this pot came from their family.)

The flop came 8s3c2s, Phil bet 30,000, Loni pot-raised, and Phil called all in for 126,000.

Loni Hui:  AcJd5h2h  (pair of deuces, gutshot straight draw, 8-5 low)

Phil Hui:  Ad7h5s4s  (open-ended straight draw, spade flush draw, 8-4 low)

The turn card paired the board with the Ah, the river card was the 6s, and Hui won the high side with a spade flush and the low side with his 8-4 low to double up in chips.

Phil Hui  –  354,000  (22 bb)
Loni Hui  –  224,000  (14 bb)

With eight players remaining from a field of 93, the average chip stack is around 291,000 (18 big blinds). The remaining players are guaranteed at least $1,695 each.
