Event 39 Champion Joseph Olivieri

During Pot-Limit Omaha, Joseph Olivieri raised from the button to 40,000, and Ryan Hoenig called from the big blind.

Both players checked to the turn on a board of Ac8s3sJd, Hoenig checked, Olivieri bet 35,000, and Hoenig called.

The river card was the 7d, Hoenig bet 60,000, and Olivieri moved all in.

Hoenig stopped to think and asked, “Did you check back aces?

Hoenig thought for a while before he folded, showing two cards — 8d8c for a set of eights. Olivieri took the pot without showing his cards.

Hoenig looked to Robert Morris, who has been on the rail supporting Olivieri, and said, “I made the right fold, Bobby.”

Joseph Olivieri  –  1,490,000  (25 BB)
Ryan Hoenig  –  70,000  (1 BB)

The next hand, Hoenig got it all in from the button for 70,000, and they turned over their cards.
