While all eyes of the international poker community are set on the ongoing World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, the schedule in the Asia-Pacific region is stretched thin right now. This will change in a few weeks when several high-profile tournaments take place in quick succession and one of them is the Won Poker Cup Festival in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
Won Poker Cup
Taking place from July 24 to 29, 2024 at the luxurious Won Majestic Hotel, the series offers $600k in guarantees. The lion’s share of that will be up for grabs in the first-ever Won Poker Cup $1,100 Main Event, which comes with a guarantee of half a million USD.

Players can get in for cheap via the Satellites to the Main Event which cost as little as USD $55 and USD $110. A total of four satellites are scheduled.
It has now been confirmed by the event organizers that the new Grand Ballroom will be used to host the 11 tournaments throughout the six days and 35 tables will be available, another five can be added if needed. That’s plenty of space for poker enthusiasts from near and far to join the action.
Players Confirmed To Attend
It comes as no surprise that some notables from nearby countries have already confirmed their attendance. This includes a contingent from Vietnam with the capital of Phnom Penh being just a short bus ride away from Ho Chi Minh City. According to the organizers, Triton high-stakes contender Dao Minh Phu, High Roller regular Nguyen Quang Huy and Tran Hao Nam have already confirmed.
USOP ambassador Kyle Quoc Bao Diep will be heading to Sihanoukville as well. He is one of the rising stars of live poker in Vietnam with plenty of deep runs to his name, most notably a sixth place in the WPT Cambodia $3,500 Championship event for a career-best score of $90,532.
“Can’t wait to be back on the tables soon. The next stop will be WPT Cambodia (Phnom Penh) and followed by Won Poker Cup (Sihanoukville)! And don’t worry, the poker vlogs will be back!”
Cambodia has been one of the emerging countries for live poker in the last few years and Sihanoukville used to be a regular stop for the Asian Poker Tour between 2012 and 2016. The WPT National Cambodia also headed to the coastal city in January 2017 as well but since, the focus had seemingly shifted to cash games with major tournaments taking a back seat.
This may now very well change going forward, as the Won Poker Cup is the second major live poker event in the industrial center of the Kingdom within the last few months. You can check out more details about the schedule and early bird packages right here or head to the bottom of the page.
