The inaugural Jeju International Poker Tour (JIPT) has kicked off at Jeju Oriental Hotel & Casino in Jeju Island, South Korea with international players and Korean nationals battling for the early side event trophies. Latvia’s Rolands Norietis emerged as the first JIPT winner at the Single Day High Roller followed by Filipino Charles Pansoy at the two-day JIPT Opener. Scroll down for the results.
The JIPT runs from April 7 to 17, 2024 featuring 22 trophy events over eight days of games. This inaugural event is hosted by the Korea Hold’em Association and is set in the beautiful Jeju Island, known as one of the emerging premier poker destinations. Following in the footsteps of WPT Korea, JIPT is the second major poker event to take place on the island this year. Additionally, JIPT marks the first time Korean nationals can compete alongside international players in a major poker event in the country.
For those curious on the buy in method. Foreigners can buy in directly at the venue whereas Koreans prepare for JIPT several days in advance without direct cash transactions and register with the tickets / vouchers aka “seed” won at local poker pubs.
