Michigan Regulators Reach Agreement With Polymarket to End Sports Event Contracts for State Customers

The Michigan Gaming Control Board announced on October 28, 2026, that it had reached an agreement with prediction market platform Polymarket under which the company will no longer offer new sports event contracts to customers in the state. As part of the same arrangement, the Michigan Gaming Control Board said Polymarket must close all open sports event contract positions held by Michigan customers no later than November 25, 2026.

The announcement came roughly a year after Polymarket faced resistance in the state, making the platform the fourth operator the board has brought into compliance on this issue.

The agreement followed a pair of legal setbacks for Polymarket in federal court. A federal court denied the company’s request for a temporary restraining order in March 2026, and a federal court subsequently denied Polymarket’s motion for a preliminary injunction in June 2026.
