As expected, the 12th Annual CPG Championship Finals stormed open with over 300 players quickly getting on the felt for the first deal then doubled up to 645 by the start of the second level. Two areas are now being used. Needless to say, it is massive!
CPG Championship Finals
Running from August 24 to 30, 2024 at the Howard Johnson Resort Sanya in Hainan, China, this is the first of three starting days scheduled. Unlike most events around the world, China Poker Games maintains a repechage format which means no same day re-entry allowed.
The Main Event is suited with a fantastic structure of 300 bb deep. Registration is open for a total of 8 levels, each level running 60 minutes with 20 minutes break in between and one hour dinner break at the end of Level 4.
12th CPG Championship – Side Events
Also running alongside are the Free Trade Port Cup High Roller and PLO. Both events are closing in on a champion. The High Roller opened today with 13 out of the 108 total players back on the hunt with Korea’s Park Younghee leading the pack. Vietnamese high roller Quang Huy Nguyen is ranked fifth.
Last night, Nguyen delivered the bubble with cracking . Also in the lineup is China’s hot running WSOP double bracelet winner Xixiang Luo. We will have a recap on that event once a champion is crowned.

At the PLO, 20 players remain out of the 87 that registered. Among the returnees are Hong Kong’s Tsz Yeung Ka and Taiwan’s Tzu Ting Su. Stay tuned for the recap as well once a champion has been crowned.
Huo Yu Wins The 12th Anniversary Special
Huo Yu triumphed over the 806 entry field of the 12th Anniversary Special – CPG Championship opener. Running from August 21 to 23, with two starting days that drew 268 players and 538 players, Day 2 saw 146 players return. The money bubble burst at 92nd place however we were unable to catch it as multiple tables witnessed eliminations simultaneously. Once the ITM round began, Pham Tien Dung and Doan Quan Trung were among the first to cash.
Nearing the fourteenth hour, it was heads up between Huo Yu and Jian Guo Shu, both players sitting on 50 bigs each. However, in an abrupt clash, all the chips went in with Yu ahead to Shu’s . The final board ran , Yu shipped it with Ace-high.
