In just a few days, the first stop of the brand-new SiGMA Poker Tour will begin in Brazil. For those planning to attend, we’d like to recommend some places, tours, and visits you can take to make your visit to São Paulo 🇧🇷 even more enjoyable. Here are some entertainment, leisure, and tourism options that you can take advantage of during a day off from poker or if you decide to stay a few extra days to explore the most populous city in Latin America, with almost 12 million inhabitants.
BiS SiGMA Americas 2025
Many people heading to the SiGMA Poker Tour’s inaugural event might be looking to combine business and pleasure. As such, you should know that BiS (Brazilian IGaming Summit) SiGMA Americas will be returning to São Paulo for its third edition from April 7–10, uniting more than 18,000 delegates, 600 exhibitors, 2,000 affiliates and more than 300 speakers from the worlds of gaming, betting, and fintech for an unparalleled industry summit. It’s your opportunity to connect with top innovators, explore cutting-edge trends, and seize new opportunities in South America’s thriving iGaming market.
BiS SiGMA Americas will take place at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo. You can see the schedule with all the activities for each day at this link, and if you’d like to purchase tickets, you can do so here.
Sé Cathedral
Reigning supreme over downtown São Paulo, the Metropolitan Cathedral ⛪️ of Our Lady of the Assumption (Sé Cathedral) is one of the largest neo-Gothic structures in the world. The 12,000-pipe organ is among the largest in South America, and the church houses a wealth of religious artwork.
Ibirapuera Park
São Paulo’s version of New York’s Central Park, leafy Ibirapuera Park opened on the city’s 400th anniversary in 1954 and is known as much for its museums and music hall as for its lakeside jogging and biking paths. It is the largest park in downtown São Paulo and the second largest in the city.
São Paulo Museum of Art
The São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) is known for housing one of the finest art collections in the southern hemisphere, and you can enjoy Boschs and Bellinis, Van Goghs, and Gauguins. There are over 8,000 works 🖼️ in total, and the galleries are arranged thematically rather than chronologically. As you tour the vast museum, you’ll see dozens of Degas sculptures and works by some of Spain’s most famous painters, including Picasso and Velázquez.
Interlagos Racetrack
If you like racing cars 🏎️, if you enjoy Formula 1 racing, or if you’ve watched the TV series “Drive To Survive” or “Senna” on Netflix, you should visit the Interlagos track. It was inaugurated in 1940 and has been the home of Formula 1 since 1990. This year, the race will take place there in November. The circuit’s name comes from the fact that the track was built in a region between two large artificial lakes that were designed in the early 20th Century to supply the city with drinking water and electricity.
São Paulo Zoo
Animal lovers shouldn’t miss the São Paulo Zoo, the largest in Brazil and Latin America. It houses more than 3,200 animals, 102 species of mammals, 216 species of birds, 95 species of reptiles, 15 species of amphibians and 16 species of invertebrates in enclosures that replicate the natural habitats of these animals. The zoo’s farm produces vegetables used in the manufacturing of feed for various animals, and material for the enclosures where the animals are.
Morumbi Shopping
Maybe you’ve won some extra money at the poker tables? Well, São Paulo has a particularly great venue available where you can spend some of that cash. Those looking to spend an afternoon shopping can do so at Morumbi Shopping, the city’s most visited mall, with more than 500 stores featuring national and international brands. There, you can purchase thousands of various items and enjoy a wide variety of restaurants.
The Banespa Tower
Originally built as the headquarters of the São Paulo State Bank (Banespa) and named after one of the bank’s first presidents, the tower rose over a period of eight years, crowning the city as its tallest building in 1947, a title it held for the next 18 years. The 360-degree panoramic views of the city from the 35th-floor observation deck stretch over 25 miles, encompassing the entire downtown area and even the verdant Serra da Cantareira mountain range north of the city. Note that the observation deck and the building’s first-floor museum are free to visitors.
Guarujá Beach
When a person thinks of Brazil, they often think “beaches”. Nicknamed “The Pearl of the Atlantic,” the Brazilian city of Guarujá is home to the closest stretch of beach to São Paulo, making it a popular weekend destination for São Paulo residents. A total of 23 beaches 🏖️ stretch across the city’s waterfront. While it’s about 40 miles away, if you’re looking for some sand and sun away from the felt, you can’t go wrong making the detour to Guarujá.
Allianz Parque
The Allianz Parque stadium opened in 2014 and has a capacity for 48,000 spectators. The popular Palmeiras football club ⚽️ plays there on Wednesdays and Sundays. It also hosts music concerts 🎤, where Paul McCartney, Coldplay, and Katy Perry have previously performed. Gilberto Gil will be performing there on April 11 and 12, and if you want to extend your stay in the area beyond the SiGMA Poker Tour dates, the Monsters of Rock 🎸 festival will take place on April 19, featuring the bands Scorpions, Judas Priest, Europe, Opeth, Queensrÿche and Stratovarius.
Christ the Redeemer of Serra Negra
Inspired by the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue that towers over Rio de Janeiro, Serra Negra’s own Christ the Redeemer statue sits atop Pico de Fonseca Hill, offering views of the city.
São Paulo Aquarium
Claiming to be the largest aquarium in Latin America, the São Paulo Aquarium is home to more than 3,000 creatures. While there, you can immerse yourself in different sections of the aquarium — including freshwater, Antarctic, and ocean — to discover exhibits featuring 300 species of marine life and other mammals.
Wishing you good luck on the SiGMA Poker Tour, and we hope you have a blast exploring the sights and sounds of São Paulo!
