Hydra High Roller Day 1 Completed
The €5,300 Hydra Entertainment High Roller began on Wednesday with 39 players having entered so far. When play ended a little after midnight there were 31 players left in contention, with the Dutch duo of Teun Mulder and Michel Molenaar leading the way. Molenaar won the super high roller event at the Malta Poker Festival earlier this year and will be hoping to repeat that feat, which will be a tall task, as its a high quality field with many experienced high stakes players assembled. These include multiple bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche from Germany, Spain’s Leo Margets, Belgian Bart Lybaert and France’s Johan “YoH ViraL” Gilbert. Party Poker Team Pro Matt Staples also entered the event but was one of the unfortunate 8 players to hit the rail before the end of the day.
Late registration was still open until the start of day 2, at 3pm and by the time they had shuffled up and started dealing, the field had grown to 44, creating a prize pool of €200,000!

Italian Party
Yesterday’s side event was the €130+€20 NLH Italian Party, which to be fair was a more International affair than strictly Italian. In fact only one Italian player Mattia Ride graced the final table, finishing in 6th place. It was a long drawn out tournament that finally reached its conclusion at 6am, when Germany’s Philipp Kampf defeated Maltese player Marc Schembri to claim the title, the trophy and €6,332 for his efforts. In total 238 players entered, creating a prize pool of just under €30k.
