Flight A of the APPT Warm Up Main Event featuring a PHP 5 Million guarantee played out today at the Pokerstars LIVE room at Okada Manila, Philippines. A total of 88 entered across the ten levels of registration and played nearly nine hours before the bubble burst to signal the end of day.
The 14 surviving players are the first advance to the next round – Day 2 – which takes place on Saturday, July 13, 2024, and are the first to be ensured a piece of the pot.
Benhur Ybarsabal Tops Flight A
Setting the bar high for the next heat is Benhur Ybarsabal of the Philippines with 338,000 (68 bb). Ybarsabal was in danger of elimination two busts before ITM with his pocket Kings outdrawn on the turn by Christian Lortie’s two pair. However, the board paired on the river to give Ybarsabal the higher two pair. To take the lead, Ybarsabal knocked out Adrianto Tan on the bubble.
On Ybasabal’s tail is Taiwan’s Liao Po Hsun with 279,000 (56 bb), and rounding out the top three is Oleg Mordassov of Switzerland with 249,000 (50 bb).
