PokerGO Tour Coattails WSOP for Multitude of Events

For those who believe that the PokerGO Tour is hibernating during the 2025 World Series of Poker, you might want to think again. Instead of pausing operations, the PGT will incorporate many of the events from the summertime festival as part of their 2025 schedule. Depending on the finishes in these tournaments, the entirety of the 2025 PGT Championship Race could be upended.

Fifteen WSOP Tournaments Counted Toward PGT Standings

In just the first two weeks of the 2025 WSOP (until June 15), the PGT will count fifteen of the tournaments played at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas toward their standings. It starts immediately with the $25,000 Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em World Championship, which will get the cards in the air on May 30. The very next day, the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo World Championship will take to the stage with its competition, offering a rare non-Texas Hold’em tournament for the denizens in Las Vegas.

The “High Roller” tournaments will be a big part of the WSOP and PGT roster of events. On June 2, a $25,000 Mixed Pot Limit Omaha/No Limit Hold’em should be a hotly contested event, and on June 5 a $25,000 Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em tournament will be up for grabs. Toss in a $10,000 Mystery Bounty tournament (June 1), the $10,000 Seven Card Stud World Championship (June 6), a $25,000 Eight Handed No Limit High Roller (June 7), and SEVEN more tournaments with buy-ins north of $10,000 are playing.

On June 15, ARIA will get into action with their High Roller Series and a $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament that will change the scenery for the WSOP denizens. That eleven-tournament schedule runs until July 7, when it concludes with a $15,000 No Limit Hold’em event. In total, the PokerGO Tour – between the WSOP and ARIA – will count 42 tournaments toward their determinations for the PGT World Championship in December. This included the WSOP’s $50,000 Poker Players’ Championship and the $10,000 Main Event Championship tournament.

Look Now…It WILL Change!

You should look now at the leaderboard for the PGT World Championship race. These standings will determine the 27 players who will vie for the PGT World Championship in December this year. It is conceivable that, with the plethora of action available over the summer in Las Vegas, that NONE of these players may be around come that December tournament.

Leading right now on the PGT Leaderboard is Eric Blair, who has picked up two wins in the first half of the 2025 PGT season. Racking up 1157 points, Blair has been able to eke out the lead over two players who also have garnered two wins so far this season, Alex Foxen (1031 points) and David ‘Chino’ Rheem (1026 points). The real story of the 2025 poker season has been the success of Kristen Foxen, who leads the PGT with three wins so far and 1015 points. These four players are the only ones who score over 1000 points to this point in the year.

They also could be completely off the board by the end of the WSOP. Here are the standings for the 2025 PGT Championship as the WSOP starts up:

1. Eric Blair, 1157 points
2. Alex Foxen (3), 1031
3. David ‘Chino’ Rheem, 1026
4. Kristen Foxen (5), 1015
5. Joey Weissman, 956
6. Nick Schulman (6), 918
7. Daniel Negreanu (7), 811
8. Jesse Lonis (2), 786
9. Shannon Shorr (2), 740
10. Jim Collopy (3), 731

The numbers you see next to the names are important. It is the number of WSOP bracelets that the players have won, and you can see that Blair, Rheem, and Weissman are blanked out in that category. Past success in Las Vegas is not a predictor of success in a given year, but these players and many others down the standings on the PokerGO Tour Leaderboard will be looking to move over the summer in Las Vegas.
