PokerStars Launches PokerStars Live League, Offers Chance to Become PokerStars Pro

Leaderboard for all buy-ins

PokerStars is offering tournament players a shot to become sponsored members of Team PokerStars Pro by playing in live events across Europe. In an announcement this week, Stars introduced PokerStars Live League, a leaderboard competition for its European events in 2025.

Everyone who plays in European Poker Tour (EPT) events and the new PokerStars Opens earns leaderboard points. There are three leaderboards: High, Medium, and Low, so players with different bankrolls will all have a chance to participate.

The High leaderboard is for tournament buy-ins of €/£/$5,000 and higher. At the end of the year, the first-place finisher will win four EPT Main Event and four EPT High Roller buy-ins, worth a combined €62,400. Second place will win four EPT Main Event buy-ins, and third place will get two EPT Main Event buy-ins.

The first-place finisher on the Medium leaderboard (for tournaments with buy-ins of €/£/$1,000 to €/£/$4,999) will receive four EPT Main Event and four PokerStars Open Main Event buy-ins. Second place on the leaderboard gets six PokerStars Open Main Event buy-ins, while third place gets three PokerStars Open Main Event buy-ins.

And finally, for the Low leaderboard (buy-ins €/£/$999 or below), the top finisher will bag ten PokerStars Open Main Event and ten PokerStars Open Cup buy-ins. Second place will get those same ten Cup buy-ins, and third place will receive five Cup buy-ins.

From 30 there will be just one

“We’re really excited to bring PokerStars Live League to our player offering,” said Willie Elliot, Live Events Customer Engagement Manager, in this week’s press release. “Players have the opportunity to compete across a variety of different buy-in levels to win €150,000 in live event tickets, with three winners crowned.”

As they say, though…but wait, there’s more!

The top ten finishers on each leaderboard, so 30 players in all, will have the opportunity to audition to become a member of Team PokerStars Pro for a year. The lucky (and skilled) sponsored player will receive buy-ins to all sorts of tournaments, including events on the European Poker Tour and both WCOOP and SCOOP.

“The winner of the PokerStars ambassador role will travel across the globe wearing the iconic patch, attend the best live events in incredible locations, and play for millions in prize money alongside the best players in the world,” said Elliot.

Players can track their placement on the leaderboard(s) via the PokerStars Live app. Those who cash in tournaments will receive points based on the Global Poker Index’s formula for its rankings system, while those who do not cash will receive 20% of the points for a min-cash.
