Shannon Shorr and Nick Schulman are the winners of the first two events of the PokerGO Tour’s final series of their season, which ends with a $1 Million Championship Freeroll Jan. 10.
Nick Schulman continues crushing
After a fantastic 2024, Schulman began 2025 by winning the first event in the Last Chance series, turning $10,100 into $283,050. The man is coming off a World Series of Bracelet in the $5,300 Closer event a week before Christmas in the Bahamas ($145,000) — the second bracelet of the year after wining the $25,000 High Roller event in June for $1,667,842.
The heads-up battle with Joao Simao took nearly two hours and saw Schulman climb back from a five-to-one chip deficit while also being down to depending on a king on the river to make a straight, which was “the first of many doubles during heads-up play.”
Schulman, who turned 40 in September, will be eligible for the Poker Hall of Fame in 2025 for the first time. An entertaining poker commentator as well as a high-stakes pro, Schulman will most certainly be considered for induction, joining a long list of players that should be considered for the honor.
The event brought in 111 entries and the top 16 won at least $16,650.

Shannon Shorr stacks another
Shorr won his third PGT title in the second event of the series, another $10,100 no-limit hold’em contest, adding another $297,500 to his stack, which pushed his lifetime tournament winnings up over the $14 million mark, according to the Hendon Mob. It’s his largest tournament cash since he finished second in a $2,000 WSOP bracelet event in 2005.
It’s just another bead in a strand of six-figure cashes that is 38 long. Amazingly, the long-time pro has never had a tourney cash worth at least $1 million.
Shorr had another nice score in early December when he won $272,600 for taking third in the $25,000 High Roller Event at the Seminole Hard Rock Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open. Brandon Wilson won that one for $602,900. Since then, Shorr, cashed six times.
The event brought in 119 to the PokerGO studios at the Aria. The top 17 were paid at least $17,850.
