Short Stacks: NAPT Schedule Released, Wynn Poker Room Switching to PokerAtlas

Wynn Poker Room Switching to PokerAtlas

The Wynn Las Vegas has switched poker rooms apps from Bravo Live to Poker Atlas. Both apps provide both live and static information about card rooms, such as phone numbers, tournaments schedules, how many tables are available, how many players are currently playing, and allows players to put themselves on waitlists before stepping into the casino.

Bravo Poker Live is the official app of the World Series of Poker, and the WSOP encourages its players to register for events through the app and at kiosks throughout Paris and Horseshoe, despite the app only rated two-stars on the Google Play store. PokerAtlas has a rating of 4.6, most likely because it provides other services such as live tournament chip counts.

Wynn becomes the fourth Las Vegas casino to make the switch, joining Westgate, Sahara, and Resorts World.

Last days of The Mirage

After 34 years, The Mirage in Las Vegas will cease to exist. On July 17, the iconic casino will shut down for good and undergo a three-year renovation that will turn the property into a Hard Rock Las Vegas. The project will transform the Strip by adding a 700-foot tall hotel tower in the shape of a guitar.

The Mirage’ spoken room in the early 90s, run by  2012 Poker Hall of Fame inductee Eric Drache, was the place to play poker in Las Vegas. Chip Reese, Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harman, Ralph Perry, Mike Matusow, Eli Elezra, Howard Lederer, David Grey, John Hennigan, Steve Zolotow, and Mori Eskandani played in the biggest games in town there.

Even though the big games shifted to the Bellagio when it opened in 1998, the room stayed open for another 22 years.

Detailed plans for Hard Rock Las Vegas have yet to be released, but if the way the Seminole Tribe of Florida approaches poker in its Casios in poker (Hint: They run some of the best rooms in the country), then its Las Vegas poker room will be one of the best of the Strip.

East Coast Poker Championship begins tomorrow
