World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour Close Out Year with Two Major Series

December has turned into one of the best poker months thanks to the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour. The WSOP is setting up in Paradise, with the WPT making Las Vegas the home to champions.

While the northeast in the United States suffersfrom its first serious winter snow storm of the season, poker players from around the world are heading to Atlantis Paradise in the Bahamas for high-stakes action.

The 15-bracelet event World Series of Poker Paradise started yesterday with $2,500 buy-in WSOP Circuit Championship Mystery Bounty event that carries a $5 million prize pool guarantee.

The whole series ends on Dec. 16, with another $2,500 buy-in event, but packed between those are more than a dozen big buy-in events that carry the Triton Super High Roller brand alongside the WSOP’s.

Starting today is the $100,000 Triton Pot Limit Omaha Main Event, the first of five events that carry a six-figure buy-in. The biggest is the $250,000 Triton Invitational, which starts Dec. 7.

Dec, 8, is the $125,000 buy-in seven-handed event, followed by the $100,000 Triton Main Event on Dec. 9. A day later on Dec. 10, is the $150,000 buy-in event.

Also on Dec. 10, is the $25,000 Super Main Event which carries a $60 million guaranteed prize pool.

And then on Dec. 15, another $25,000 event with a guaranteed $10 million is set to take place.

There’s also a handful of $50,000 and $10,000 buy-in events mixed in. Checked out the whole schedule here.

WPT World Championship now running

Meanwhile, in Las Vegas at the Wynn, the World Poker tour’s World Championship series kicked-off on Wednesday with the first Day 1’s of its $800 buy-in, $1 million guaranteed event.

It’s the first of 78 events that run until Dec. 22.

The series immediately heats-up with the $1,100 WPT Prime Championship starting on Dec. 7. Players can choose one of four starting days to get into this $5 million guaranteed championship event. Two $400 satellites to this event take place Dec. 7 and 8. They both guarantee at least 25 seats will be won.

And plenty of players will choose to get into the $200 “milestone” satellite that takes place on Dec. 8. This event will award 50 seats into the WPT Prime Championship.

The first of the three starting days of the $10,400 WPT World Championship is set to begin on Dec. 13. It does not have a prize pool promise.

A $1,100 “milestone” satellite with two startling days to the WPT World Championship begins Dec. 9. This event will also award 25 seats to the big one.

The final table of the WPT Prime Championship is set to take place Dec. 20, with the final table of the WPT World Championship taking place on Dec. 21.

In between those are dozens of other events carrying the WPT moniker. include the $1,100 Ladies Championship on Dec. 13, a $1,100 event with a $2 Million guarantee starting on Dec. 16,  to 19, and a $1,600 PLO Mystery Bounty tourney on Dec. 7.
