WPT Global Spring Festival Concludes With More than $8 Million in Prize Money Awarded

From May 5 to 26, 2024, rising online operator WPT Global hosted the Spring Festival with more than $7 million in guaranteed prize pools. There was something available for everybody’s budget throughout a total of 315 events.

When the final river card was dealt on the global online poker platform, the operator confirmed 129,629 total entries throughout the entire series. The $7,463,250 in guaranteed prize pools were surpassed and $8,169,115 in total prize money was awarded to poker players from all over the world.

According to WPT Global, $900,000 worth of Spring Festival tickets were won in satellites and feeders including 91 seats for the $3,500 WPT Championship Event (worth $318,000). The flagship tournament of the Spring Festival came with a $1 million guarantee and collected $1,158,980 in prize money. First place went to “Sandwich99” who walked away with $230,521.12 including the $10,400 WPT World Championship seat for the season-ending marquee live event at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Other major tournaments on the schedule surpassed its respective guarantees as well. Event #10: $530 WPT500 generated $431,000 in prize money and “BigRom99” earned the top prize of $81,900.77. A Chinese player topped Event #4: $22 Spring Festival Mini Championship and earned the biggest slice of the $152,700 with a top prize of $13,980.26 including bounties.

The $1,060 WPT Prime Event generated $770,000 in prize money and another Chinese player took it down for $147,666.75, which also included the aforementioned $10,400 seat for the trip to Sin City in December 2024 as well.

In the $220 Spring Festival Championship, first place went to “Alexfysio2” who earned a top prize of $60,739.83 out of the $514,000 total prize pool, quite a return on the investment in this low-stakes flagship tournament. Last but not least, “howtofold” topped the $2,100 High Roller PKO for $94,003 including bounties with the event paying out $324,000 in prize money.

As promised by WPT Global, the operator collected the rake for the Spring Festival tournaments throughout the entire series. More than $740,000 was given back to the participants via Festival Leaderboards and Freerolls as part of the Spring Festival Rakeback promotion. The bonus Freerolls took place on Sunday, June 2, 2024, one week after the conclusion of the 2024 WPT Global Spring Festival.
