After entering the final table as one of the shorter stacks, Jia orchestrated a remarkable comeback to defeat Philippines’ Joshua Figuerres in heads-up play. The $800 buy-in event featured a $1,500 bounty on every elimination, generating a $222,790 prize pool that surpassed its $200,000 guarantee.

The WPT Cambodia Survivor final table showcased international talent from six countries. Jia stayed patient among the shorter stacks, picking spots carefully and surviving crucial confrontations to climb back into contention.

The Decisive Hand

Heads-up play began with Figuerres holding the chip lead after multiple eliminations and a rare double knockout. However, Jia gradually seized control through patient aggression.

In the tournament-deciding hand, heavy action erupted on the turn of a K-T-8-Q board. After Jia bet 400,000, Figuerres check-raised to 1,500,000. Jia responded with a raise to 2,800,000, prompting Figuerres to snap-shove all-in for 5,350,000.

Figuerres tabled J-9 for a jack-high straight, but Jia showed A-J for the higher, ace-high straight. The river bricked out, and Jia’s superior straight held to lock up the championship.

The $1,500 bounty structure created unique dynamics throughout the tournament. Jia collected $28,500 in prize money plus $2,700 in excess bounties, three regular bounties worth $4,500, and a $1,100 WPT Prime seat. His total haul: approximately $36,800.

Runner-up Joshua Figuerres actually cashed the biggest overall payout. Despite finishing second, Figuerres earned $18,290 plus eight bounties worth $12,000, bringing his total to $30,290. His aggressive play maximized bounty earnings even without the title.

India’s Anmol Mehta secured third place for $11,600. Mehta picked up two bounties by eliminating Lewis Michael Cowell and Hooman Nikzad with pocket aces, showcasing solid fundamentals throughout.

China’s Li Lu began Day 2 as chip leader with 721,000—nearly 20% more than second place. However, Li Lu failed to navigate the aggressive bounty dynamics and busted before the final table.

Ukraine’s Erik Rozhynskyi made another deep run, continuing his exceptional festival performance. While he didn’t final table the WPT Cambodia Survivor, Rozhynskyi has already captured back-to-back titles, banking over $141,471 across multiple events.

Strategic Insights

The bounty format creates different dynamics than standard freezeouts. With $1,500 on every player’s head, short stacks become targets rather than obstacles, widening calling ranges for big stacks.

Figuerres exploited this perfectly, accumulating eight bounties through aggressive play. His $12,000 in bounties exceeded some higher tournament finishes.
