Daniel Negreanu’s Hot Start to 2024 Continues with Another Victory on the PokerGO Tour

After losing more than $2 million playing poker in 2023, Daniel Negreanu made a public promise to himself and his fans that he would have a better year by putting “quantity over quality,” playing less events, and changing his mindset. Whatever he’s doing is working, because the 2014 Poker Hall of Fame inductee bagged his second victory at PokerGO Tour events this year.

This time he did it in the third event of the PokerGO Tour PLO Series ($5,100 buy-in) by outlasting 117 entrants. He wins $147,500 and yet another trophy.

It’s just a continuation of a year that includes two wins, two runner-up finishes, and eight final table appearances in PokerGO Tour high roller events already this year. Since Feb. 28, he finished in each of the top five spots once.

He started the year by winning a $10,100 PokerGO Tour no-limit hold’em event for $218,400 on Jan. 2, and all of a sudden, his Hendon Mob results are again trending up. If things continue running well for the 49-year-old still known as “Kid Poker,” he’ll soon pass the $53 million mark in lifetime poker tournament winnings.

Negreanu, a GGPoker ambassador, is heading to his home town of Toronto to play in the first World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event to be held there. The series began last Friday, with the first of the three starting flights of the $2,000 CAD Main starting Thursday, March 28.

He put up 25% of his action at a one-point markup on PokerStake.com, but it quickly sold out less than 20 hours after he announced it through social media.

Eelis Parssinen goes back-to-back

Eelis Parssinen has made the transition from online crusher to live juggxrnaught seemingly smooth, as he continues to cash and win some of the biggest buy-in events around the world — as long as they are Pot Limit Omaha events. Since March 2023, he’s cashed 18 times in big buy-in events, and all but two came playing PLO.

He won his third PGT event last week after taking down the the $7,600 PLO Bounty contest ($5,000 + $100 + $2,500) for $149,000 — $131,325 for the victory, plus $32,500 in bounties.

PokerGO held a PLO series last fall, and you guessed it: Parssinen won the same event for the $149,000 top prize, plus $30,000 in bounties. The man from Finland with great hair crested the $4 million poker tourney mark with last week’s victory.

His largest lifetime score came by winning his one and only WSOP bracelet in 2021, which came with $545,616 for outlasting 578 in a $5,000 PLO event.

His second-largest cash came online in the 2020 Poker Masters Online Pot Limit Omaha Series. He won $440,000 in the $25,500 super high roller event of that series.

The man is simply amazing at PLO.

The PGT PLO Series continues this week at the PokerGO studios at the Aria in Las Vegas with the last four events of the series.
