Championship: Money Bubble Bursts After an Hour as Phil Soucy Knocks Out a Player

$5,300 SHRPO Championship
Prize Pool:  $3,262,704  |  Structure  |  Payouts
Level 16:  4,000/8,000 with an 8,000 ante
Players Remaining:  85 of 673

After about an hour of hand-for-hand play on the Money Bubble, in Hand #13, the player in the big blind started the hand with just 11,000 and was forced all in. Max Gumenyuk limped from the button for 8,000, and Phil Soucy completed the small blind. Any further action would create a side pot.

The flop came AhJc5h, Soucy bet, and Gumenyuk quickly folded.

The big blind showed Ac10h for a pair of aces, and Soucy turned over 8d5d for a pair of fives. The big blind needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The turn card was the 2s, but the river card was — the 5c.

Soucy rivered trip fives to win the pot and eliminate the big blind from the tournament, bursting the Money Bubble in the process.

Phil Soucy  –  120,000  (15 bb)

With 85 players remaining from a field of 673, the average chip stack is around 396,000 (50 big blinds). The players are now in the money, guaranteed at least $9,700 each.

There will be a 90-minute dinner break after this level (around 7:05 pm), and action will continue tonight until the end of Level 20 (around 12:50 am).
