King’s Resort, Home of the World Series of Poker Europe, Changes Ownership

King's Resort Casino RozvadovOn June 12, 2024, German online poker news portal Hochgepokert.com reported that Leon Tsoukernik, majority owner of the King’s Resort in Rozvadov, sold his shares and will be stepping out of the casino industry for the time being. The breaking news was since also shared by reputable German site Pokerfirma.com as well.

Included in the sale of the King’s Entertainment Group was the King’s Resort in Rozvadov, the Casino Admiral Rozvadov and the King’s Casino at the Hilton Hotel in Prague. No specific amount has been mentioned, but it is rumored to be in the region of 300 to 400 million Euros. Scott Hanna, who was already a shareholder, and further not mentioned partner(s) have now taken over from Tsoukernik.

Art collector and – later on – poker player Tsoukernik opened King’s Casino near the Czech border to Germany in June 2003 and the poker room only featured a handful of tables in the early stages. However, the property was consistently improved upon and became the largest poker room in Europe with more than 160 poker tables. In 2018, King’s Casino was renamed to King’s Resort with the newly-built hotel next door now operational.

Nine years ago in 2015, the venue hosted a World Series of Poker Circuit Event for the first time and became the host venue for the WSOP Europe festival as of 2017. The cooperation has since produced record fields for the now annual WSOPE Main Event and major live poker events with six and seven-figure prize pools are taking place at King’s Resort every other week these days.

According to the reports, Tsoukernik wants to dedicate more time for his family, art business and new projects from now on but will continue to play poker once in a while at King’s as well. The daily operations of Europe’s biggest poker room are not influenced by this change in ownership and all events are taking place as planned, no major changes are expected at this stage. According to Pokerfirma, further news about the venue are expected to be released soon.

King’s Resort is set to host the 2024 WSOP Europe from September 18 until October 9. There will be a total of 15 gold bracelet events, headlined by the €10,350 Main Event with a €5 million guarantee.
