WSOP 2024 Day 30 – Daniel Negreanu Rivers 7-card Straight Flush

It was a case of “déjà vu all over again” for Bryce Yockey as he ran into Daniel Negreanu rivering a ridiculous straight flush to end his hopes in the Poker Players Championship last  night.

Event #58: $50,000 Poker Players Championship

Five years ago, Yockey’s final table run at the PPC ended in brutal fashion when his 99%er was outdrawn by Josh Arieh, and last night it was Daniel Negreanu’s turn to deliver the bad beat…

Yockey: A♦ K♣ 8♥ 4♠

Negreanu: K♦ :Qd: 10♦ 9♦

Flop: K♠ 8♠ 7♦

Turn: 8♦

The Omaha Hi-Lo action started on the turn with Yockey check raising.

River: J♦

This time it was Negreanu check-raising having just rivered a straight flush.

“I have a seven-card straight flush. That was lucky. That was really lucky,” Negreanu said, adding: “I made a seven-card straight flush, has that ever happened before?”

At least this time the bad beat didn’t KO Yockey, but it catapulted Negreanu into second spot in the chase for the $1,178,703 top prize, but old rival Phil Ivey fell in 7th place.

767 players were whittled down to just 60 on day 2, with Kenny Hyunh leading the way but Martin Kabrhel and Jamie Kerstetter among the casualties.

Kabrhel, one of the most disliked players at almost any poker table, was jeered by fellow players as he hit the rail.

Martin Kabrhel: 10♠ 9♣

Flop: 8♠ 7♠ 4♠
