It took three days to crown a champion after working through an impressive field of 1,312 entries in this inaugural event.

Maybe not one for the purists, many will have been thinking. We wonder what legend Doyle Brunson would have thought.

But poker is evolving all of the time and new, fresh formats are likely a trend that will only increase.

Final Action

Two of the four Americans lining up at the final table were the first to leave. Joseph Dulaney and Robert Cote didn’t last long.

The well-supported Gabi Livshitz, from Israel, was next after running into the pocket kings of Luo who was by now making his mark at the table.

Daniel Hachem, son of 2005 Main Event winner Joe, was the last man to beat as Luo closed in on victory. And what a performance he put in.

The pair fought tooth and nail right up until the moment the organisers were considering bringing them back today to see who would be champion.

Hachem had managed to win a small lead at times during the battle but Luo always found a way to pull back in front, eventually sealing the win, yet another in recent months.

Luo’s career earnings now stand at $3,136,858.
