Yuri Dzivielevski Makes it Four Bracelets in $3,000 9-Game Mix

Yuri Dzivielvski has won his fourth gold bracelet in five years after taking down the $3,000 9-Game Mix event.

The Brazilian star banked $215,982, taking home the lion’s share of a $1,011,930 prize pool created by 379 entries.

Dzivielvski is one of poker’s elite mixed game players and has proven his worth by overcoming a significant chip deficit in an epic heads-up battle against American Nicholas Julia.

Final Action

Joseph Couden was the first player to be evicted from the final table of eight. A standard 12 big blind jam with king-queen was unfortunate to run into the pocket queens of Masafumi Iijima.

Bradley Jansen was next when his crippled stack of only three big blinds forced him to chance his luck with queen-eight from under the gun.

With only six players remaining, the action cooled down significantly with a two-hour period providing no eliminations,

Ashish Gupta and then Tomasz Gluszko fell before the dinner break and then there was another two-hour period of cagey play.

Scott Bohlman was the man to break the streak, getting wiped out in a Stud round against two opponents with Yuri Dzivielevski sending him packing.

Another two-hour ensued before Masafumi Iijima got no love in a Razz hand where he was forced to put his fate in the lap of the gods.

Nicholas Julia entered heads-up play with a commanding lead of almost five-to-one. What followed will be remembered for a long time.

Yuri Dzivielevski was on the brink of being knocked out several times, looking like he had more lives than a cat.

But then a pair of key hands saw him double-up in quick succession to deliver a stunning blow to his rival.

The 33-year-old now held the chip lead and only two hands later, the blow he delivered was fatal.

In a hand of Stud, Dzivielevski drew two pair on fourth street which would not be denied against the queens and an open-ender.

Speaking after his win, Dzivielevski said:

“I think each bracelet has a special feeling, a special memory. I cannot compare it to other bracelets. It’s always an amazing feeling, I can’t explain how amazing it is.”
