Three more Championship Event flights complete the schedule with the second on the list, Day 1B playing down today, July 31st. In addition, two Milestone Satellites are slated for later this evening for those looking to cut costs and win a seat for a fraction of the price.
Championship Event Day 1A Recap
Day 1A locked up a total of 332 entries as players continuously poured in over nine levels of registration. With no numbers set to close the day, all tournament runners had to do was survive through twelve levels of play and find a bag by the end of the night. By the ninth hour, China’s Chen Weihang found himself towering over the remaining Day 1A field with a smashing chip count of 625,000, with second in the running, Zheng Jian stacking only 365,000 behind.
The last level of the day saw numerous players fall short of qualifying, of which included a triple elimination by the hands of Xudong Yang. A commotion was seen at the table with a four way all-in taking place, Xudong covering all three opponents. The Chinese runner scooped up the pot with his pocket pair holding up against the rest, and ended the day with a spot across the top 20 chip counts. Down to the last few hands, another table saw Zhang Zhuoqun bluff off his entire stack right into Chiayun Wu’s quad kings. Wu advances with a healthy stack of 224,000 while Zhang is left to battle through another flight.
Asian notables joining the list are Jinlong Hu (290,000), Pete Chen (251,000), Celina Lin (203,000). Xiaosheng Zheng (150,000), Hon Cheong Lee (63,000), Chien Chih Weng (37,000), and Valeriy Pak (1,000).
